My DSP: Minnie the Moocher

Song: Minnie the Moocher

Artist: (as performed by) Band from TV

Year: 2006

Favorite Lyric: She had a million dollars worth of nickels and dimes, she sat around and counted them a million times

Significance: This is an old jazz song interpreted by a bunch of actors who formed a group called “Band from TV” (pun intended.) I know it sounds like a bad idea (it was when the writers tried it), but these actors are multi-talented. Hugh Laurie of House fame is ridiculously – maybe even a bit unfairly – talented. I watched House exclusively for his performances, often lamenting that the rest of the cast couldn’t keep up with him. And he can sing and he’s a really talented piano player. And oh yeah, he’s a really funny comedian too. He sings and plays piano on this song.
